My Story

In 1994, at the age of 7, I started playing music. I never really stopped, and in 2010, I started writing about music professionally. My decade-spanning musical experience has led me to write for a variety of publications and businesses, including Ultimate Guitar, Guitar Messenger, The Malibu Times Magazine, Study.com, OneMetal and Rock Square.

I currently run my own instructional guitar blog, Zach Pino Guitar, which aims to help self-taught guitarists become more focused and effective musicians. The blog includes a self-published e-book.

Prior to full-time freelance writing, I worked as a Content Developer for Study.com, which gave me insight into the goals and challenges of a fast-growing website.

I also toured the country with the acclaimed heavy metal band, The Human Abstract, alongside Textures, The Contortionist and Periphery.

I studied English at Pepperdine University and graduated with a BA in Writing & Rhetoric.

I’m also active musician in Los Angeles, with expertise in guitar, bass, piano, drums, percussion, audio production. I’m also the co-founder and guitarist in the rock band, Blind Sparrow, and our debut album is nearing its release.

You can take a look at my best work on my Music Article, Guitar Article, Blog and Music pages.
